Florida Center For Renewable Chemicals And Fuels

Grad & Post-Grad Training

The Center supports a number of programs that unify and coordinate academic and research efforts in the multi-disciplinary areas of renewable chemicals and fuels.

Graduate Training

Opportunities for graduate training in the field of plant and bacterial metabolic engineering are offered at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences, Department of Microbiology and Cell Science. Faculty members specialized in multi-disciplinary areas provide the best guidance in education and in research, supported by outstanding research and instructional facilities.

The Center awards Graduate Research Fellowships to qualified students. Research in the fields of Microbial Biotechnology, Microbial Genetics and Biochemistry, and in Plant Metabolic Engineering includes training in a full range of experimental techniques including molecular genetics, gene array analysis, bioinformatics, enzymology, metabolic engineering, preservation and culturing methods, various types of fermentation, and in industrial interactions. For more information, go to Graduate Research Opportunities

Post-Graduate Training

Contingent to research needs, post graduate training in metabolic engineering is funded through the research projects. Opportunities for training may be available through each member faculty. Each faculty selects and employs Post-Docs as they see the need.

Seminars, Workshops & Meetings

These activities keep members and trainees at the leading edge of metabolic engineering technology and feature research presentations of faculty, students, and visiting scientists in the multi-disciplinary areas of renewable chemicals and fuels. For schedule of activities, please go to Calendar.
